mid-century-teak-copper-art-coffee-table-copy
Mid Century Jarrah & Copper Art Coffee Table

A truely unique Australian mid-century coffee table, likely produced by CATT Furniture SA circa 1960s/70s. The design has a strong Scandinavian influence, with similarities to Danish furniture of the period and the work of John Mørkegaard.

The table features a substantial Australian Jarrah frame with distinctive squared legs and an architectural stretcher-style base. The long rectangular top is inset with a striking etched copper art panel, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark surrounding surface.

Etched copper was a popular decorative technique during the later mid-century period, with the abstract pattern on this piece giving a subtle nod to Nordic and ancient rune-inspired designs.

The table is sturdy and structurally sound and presents in excellent vintage condition. The top face has been carefully colour corrected and presents beautifully, with no significant imperfections. Minor colour variation remains throughout the Jarrah frame, consistent with age and the natural character of the timber.

The architectural frame has been carefully reinforced by the Retro Bay team to ensure stability. Due to the age and construction of the piece, the frame is not perfectly square; however, this does not affect its function, with no wobble or movement at the base.

A rare statement coffee table combining Australian timber, sculptural construction and original copper artwork.

Dimensions 161.5w x 71d x 61h

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0795/5211/9082/files/DSC-3264_d16c147a-2bb7-4a05-bd5c-d07e7a37ccd0.jpg?v=1790994360
